Well this certainly explains why I can never get below a certain weight and if I do, it is only temporary. The same patterns repeat themselves. I alter my habits in some way that have an effect for about a week and then my body completely shits down and won’t burn another ounce of fat. And people don’t believe me when I tell them what and how little I eat and how often that I exercise. At least I’m not totally insane. Just glance at any old movies, pictures or videos and see how the BMI’s of the population were so much lower. And contractors who do hard labor 6 days a week with fat everywhere and huge bellies. Not a coincidence. I remembered being enraged one time when some trainer was spewing this kind of hate and saying there is merely a 10% difference between the slowest and fastest metabolism. Guess again.

Obesity is primarily a hormonal problem (too much insulin - hyperinsulinemia), not a calorie problem. Eat the proper foods to get your insulin level down and provide satiety, and the calories will take care of themselves. A proper human diet consists of (based on calories) approximately 75% from fat (primarily from animal sources), approximately 20% protein (primarily from animal sources), and <5% carbohydrate. In all of human history prior to the adoption of agriculture (>90% of our existence), we never consumed near the amount of carbohydrates (and industrial seed oils) currently consumed. Our bodies are simply not adapted to a high carbohydrate diet and all the exercise in the world won't change that, only mitigate it temporarily. There is absolutely no biological need to consume carbohydrates, especially fructose. They only serve to raise insulin levels and promote fat storage. Your body will produce all of the glucose it needs via gluconeogenesis. Ketones will fill in the gaps where glucose is lacking. Ketosis is NOT an emergency response to lack of carbohydrate consumption, but a normal physiological state if the proper human diet (primarily fatty meat!) is consumed. I would suggest watching some of Dr. Paul Mason's (Sydney, Australia) videos on youtube.

From my own investigations I believe you have missed a part of the puzzle which you may be interested in.

Yes the idea that calories in and calories out are the answer is plain ridiculous. But the whole health system is designed to blame the patient.

My own health issues with systemic metal allergy lead me down this path. I have no science qualifications but am no fool. I’m not obese but am underweight.

I believe the cause of obesity is metabolic dysfunction. Certain metals have been proven to cause metabolic dysfunction and if you were to study people suffering from implant allergy they all either gain weight or lose weight rapidly. With me the implants had to be removed to stop the weight loss.

From my own health issues I’ve also come to the conclusion after many years that the human metabolism requires a certain percentage of animal fat in the diet in order to function properly. At least 30%.

Just as governments have kept medical students in the dark by telling them calories are the cause of obesity they have also kept them in the dark about the biological response of humans to metals and their role in disease. I see more and more that ignoring the role of metals is creating a lot of false conclusions about health.

I believe the demonisation of animal fat and the promotion of a plant based diet as being the main drivers of the obesity epidemic and a big factor in diabetes prevalence. There are even drs out there curing diabetes with animal fat.

Mental illness in my opinion is also 95% bogus. But the state diagnoses people with mental illness to cover up neurological injury from neurotoxins we come into contact with. Neurotoxins in dental work and medical devices and metal food additives.

Not shocked. My husband maintains a perfect weight, no extra exercise. I cook all our meals, well balanced. I could not get my weight to change, I was not an overeater. I had gastric sleeve surgery, after the surgery (50lbs down), I'm at a stand still, again nothing gets the weight to budge. I eat approx. 900-1200 cal a day, and the scale does not move.

Kind of reminds me of the old school top bodybuilders who denied the use of anabolics. I guess if we go back to the times of Eugen Sandow, we could see the effects of massive muscle stimulating excersise and only food. But Arnold .... give me a break! Or even Steve Reeves.... No way. Anabolics were not in the mainstream knowledge then but they were used. Even in the times of the Reg Parks, Steve Reeves, John Grimek, et.al. (Probably a look into olympic record setting will show an approx. time frame of their early use). I believe Arnold eventually "came clean" on using them even. Bodybuilders are some of the most unhealthy people. Cycling the body repeatedly year after year (or even within the same year) to those extremes takes a toll. I suppose, one thing that can help eliminate the risks (such as enlarged heart, damaged liver, etc.) is if you can employ top doctors who can monitor your body functions closely (as Arnold, and other tops in the profession have/can do). Of course, genetics has quite a bit to do with it also. Some are simply more suited because of their genetics. (higher testosterone levels, higher growth hormone levels, body type, more fast twitch muscle cells, better body geometry, optimum natural cortisol levels, etc.). This is why in some countries they start selecting their olympic participants through testing at early ages. To identify the best suited for the specific competition/activity. In terms of muscle growth, for some, it is naturally easier. Hence, the "hard gainer" type persons. I truely believe for some, gaining muscle (to look like what is presented in the media as most attractive) it becomes an obsession. But more so, I believe it is probably a type of body dysmorphia. No mater how much muscle growth increases, some still see themselves as "small" or "thin". Sort of like anorexia. Except opposite. As a matter of fact, if you really look into the old school bodybuilders, you will see that many of them started bodybuilding because they believe themselves to be "thin". Some, did not have the optimum genics. But with very hard years of working out and the aid of eating massive amounts of calories and anabolic use for months on end, followed by months of fasting and diuretics, etc., they acheived impressive bodies (not so healthy though). Now that bodybuilding in much more mainstream, there have been more participants who already have preferable genetics. So, combining the larger pool of persons with better genetics ..... and adding the newest technologies in anabolics, growth hormone, pro-hormones, cortisone blockers, insulin, old school anabolics, SARMS, Peptides, etc., today's bodybuilders are monsters.

Great article, thank you. I would love to learn more about the role of Glucagon. I've been IF for a little over two months now. I've lost 8 inches off my waist. I eat 2x a day with no snacks and I've never "thought" clearer than I do now. I'm watching Dr. Ekberg (sp), Dr. Eric Berg & Dr. Jason Fung on YT. Its amazing, if true, how much our body can balance itself back to health if we don't eat as frequently and switch from glucose-energy to fat-energy. Would love to hear more from you on this, your analysis is greatly appreciated 🙏

A good analysis. I‘ll add that people are quick to believe we’re ‚not right‘ and ‚not good enough‘ because we all subconsciously know it’s true. Humans are supposed to be strong and healthy. We‘re not supposed to need braces or surgery to fix our dental arch. Have you looked into the work of Dr Weston A Price and the Weston A Price Foundation?

In regards to the jacked man in the photo, it is very achievable naturally with moderate gym time. But you have to have good lifestyle and eat right. I drink a 1/2gal raw milk and 12-18 raw eggs a day in addition to some raw/cooked meat and other things if I feel like it. I‘m 5‘11“ and 170lb. Maybe 12% body fat. If I was bigger I would majorly up my food intake (currently works out to 3-4k cal/day).

Geronda had his people on 36 eggs/day with cream etc and two large meals with meat. He trained arnie and many others. Many of his students were on roids but not all. He was very against it himself.

The problem is people are malnourished. The body must be strong to build and maintain muscle longterm. Otherwise you will need to force the body with roids just to get to a level that would have been natural in times past.

The greeks at marathon charged the persians in full armour running a distance of several miles and then engaging in prolonged combat. Even roids couldn’t give us that health today.

1. I really enjoy reading your content (although as a busy working Mom of two only have time to glean high-level concepts - still very intriguing) and I thank you for it.

2. Would encourage you to check out the work of @NutriDetect on Twitter. He has cracked the code on the diet/nutrition cabal and has been helping me personally and hundreds other undo years of liver damage and restore a properly functioning metabolism/liver. The liver is really key to it all.

3. His work hinges on undoing what he calls the insidious poisoning of the global (especially American) public by the inoculation of our food supply with vitamin A (not a vitamin at all) in the early 70's. No one really knows why this substance has been added to our food supply ...

The unraveling of the damage done by this particular substance has been life-changing for me and many others. It does require a lot of work and perseverance but the benefits and gains are almost not-to-be-believed.

My family often jokes that my x-rays would reveal the map of the Candy Land game as I eat a lot of candy with a preference for chocolate. My nephew asked me if I was just a “growed up kid” because I don’t eat my vegetables. I am a strong believer in Vitamin H for Happy and chocolate is full of Vitamin H. While my meal plan wouldn’t work for everyone, it works for me. At 54, I have consistently weighed between 120-125 with the only exception being when I was pregnant with my daughter. People think I’m joking about Vitamin H for Happy, but stress and anxiety wreak havoc on our bodies. If we’ve learned anything the past two years, listening to the experts is the worst thing we can do.

I resemble the information you present here. I’m not sure that gives me any satisfaction or solace. I was a normal weight until I reached puberty in the 1970s at which time, while most others were rapidly growing and leaning out, I had a modest growth spurt and actually started putting on weight for the first time in my life. I’ve always been active in martial arts training, equestrian and other outdoor activities, and regular strength and aerobic training throughout my life — not a zealot by any means, but at modest levels, as work and life allowed. I’m definitely not a couch potato. In my 30s I discovered the Atkins plan and over time modified my nutritional plan to cut out all processed foods & sugars, most grains (an occasional guilty pleasure), resulting in a diet primarily of green vegetables and animal/fish protein. And yet....

I don’t recall, but the 1970s may have been too early for glyphosate to have been a primary factor in my weight gain, though I’ve never appreciated the dangers of the chemical until I recently learned it is used to desiccate wheat and other grains! It isn’t a matter of overspray contamination from weed control — they apply it directly to our food source! I don’t know what regulating watchdogs ever thought that would work out well!

Interesting information in your article— food for thought, so to speak. It is frustrating that there is no ready solution for those of us less lucky in the obesity gene pool. But you’ve certainly highlighted the importance of putting pressure on our nanny government to curtail the use of this and other pernicious chemicals. It’s a major uphill battle to overcome our captured "regulators" (better described as enablers) as has been so aptly demonstrated these past two years. But work we must to expose the truth and harness it to force change. Thank you TES for all of your efforts in exposing truth and educating. 🙏
