Watch for the person addicted to loosh, the chosen drug of the dark hierarchy and those who have enlisted within its doomed ranks. Do not be deceived, one's addictions will follow them into the beyond
Hello, ES. Not sure where to put this comment. I just read Jeff Childers Coffee & Covid article and saw that he mentioned the rising ocean temperatures and your work. I'm not sure if you're aware of Ben Davidson and his Earth disaster cycle hypothesis. It's a steep learning curve, and I haven't been following him for very long. Basically, he theorizes that we are being hit by a galactic current sheet that started with the Carrington Event and will peak in the next ten or twenty years. It's wreaking havoc on the solar system, and increased volcanic activity is one of the consequences. We are one the verge of a pole shift with catastrophic consequences for modern life and life in general. I pray he's wrong.
This is a high-level description of what Davidson thinks will happen:
Hey palmer, thanks! I have looked into some of the material. It is compatible with my hypothesis; however, once we broach this as the cause - the climate zombies have an immediate memorized shtick to dismiss it. They don't have shtick to dismiss exothermic core explanations - so, in order to avoid plurality, I stay away from causes of the exothermic core - even though this could be a candidate indeed.
I do think that in the case where someone is regularly engaging in bad faith communication, that's not necessarily the same as being evil, or alternatively, that is a far lesser evil in comparison to worse things they could be doing, if that is all they are doing.
Sometimes maybe it's more worthwhile to avoid those types of people, but sometimes maybe letting them know that you see them as engaging in bad faith communication might give them a worthwhile nudge on the long-term path to personal growth. We partially need innovation in thought to have happier and more meaningful lives, and we can't maximize the production of innovation from conversation without exploration and agreements around good faith communication. So with the murky exception of comedy, nudging people towards good faith communication and the ability to temporarily abandon comedy-- like sarcasm-- to exercise good faith communication, is something the world needs more of.
I know someone who fits many, but not all, of the traits you describe. Each time I see her, I go home feeling defeated and down on myself. I wish there were names/labels we could call each of these types of “downer” people. Names that would stick and maybe make them realize and work on their personalities. For now, I will label her “downer”.
I hope and pray someday you realize the Bible is the word of God, and salvation is only possible through Jesus Christ - it's faith in Him as the Son of God, and the one who saves us from our sins. If I were you I would pray and ask God to show you the truth. You have been such a beacon of light through this whole Covid and "vaccine" disaster. I pray for you because I'm concerned about your eternal destination. Thank you again for everything you have done and are doing to fight against the evil corruption.
"And you will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart." Jeremiah 29:13
Lee Strobel was an extreme skeptic with regards to the Bible and Christ as God's son who died for us. He did a ton of research and ended up coming to the conclusion Jesus is God, the resurrection did happen, and when we place our trust in Him we can spend an eternity in Heaven. He wrote the book "The Case for Christ". I highly recommend you consider reading it. It may help change your skepticism of the Bible :-)
As I went down the list of tell-tale signs, I recognized that behavior as par for the course in academia, particularly as the lone, formerly tenured foreigner in a Japanese college. Come to think of it, I guess I am lucky to be on a permanent regime of a sleeping medication and anti-depressant with my nightly supplement stack. My Japanese colleague was not so lucky.
One day, about 7 years ago, after the weekly department meeting, she came into my office to chat, asked if I believed in the Western concept of 'god', and satisfied with my hedge of the word 'god' as a metaphor for nature-in-its-entirety ... proceeded to show me the rope scar around her neck from an attempted suicide. 6 months later, the department chairman announced my colleague had died due to a 'car accident'.
Nobody from the school was invited to her funeral, and so the school had its own ceremony, with no one from her family invited. That's when I began seeing a psychiatrist, running through a variety of anti-depressant meds of different doses, and shortly after, became Associate Prof. R.I.P. ... Resigned in Protest. Been living on the margins of Japanese society ever since.
In retrospect, not one of the other tenured faculty or administration supported me. It was part-time teachers (adjuncts) or community volunteers that prevented me from following my colleague's path.
For those readers who think of Japan as a tourist paradise of exotic orientalism, robots, and anime ... since the time I dropped out of institutional academia, I found statistics showing the greatest cause of mortality among Japanese males between the age of 20 and 44, was suicide. I was not surprised.
Those interested in more information about this dark side of human nature, I modestly suggest Dr. Ramani's YouTube channel, particularly her MedCircle Masterclass interview on the difference between a psychopath and a sociopath. James Corbett has a good podcast about the history of psychopathy. And A. Lobaczewski's book is a must-read ... "The Science of Evil, Psychopathy, and the Origins of the Totalitarian State".
At about 2:33:00, Representative Jamie Raskin (Maryland) called out Mark Zuckerberg for identifying and hiring those with dark-triad personality traits to manipulate customers on FaceBook. The dark-triads are those with a genetically (sometimes trauma-driven) high tendency to engage in behavior described as pathological narcissists, machiavellian opportunists, or morphologically defined psychopaths. Since then, through readings and a beer-chat with substack writer 'Guy-Jin' ... add a fourth leg to that triad. Sadism.
The reason is because some psychopathic behavior may have been, and still is, necessary for survival of the species. For example, although psychopaths may be incapable of empathy or love as most of us know it, they are also incapable of fear ... and can be good leaders in times of external threat. They also make good brain surgeons ... cool under pressure. Psychopaths are not necessarily sadistic as often portrayed in movies. For example ... the case of James Fallon ...
Indeed, many philosophers such as Kant imply that morality need not come from the empathetic roots of some social animals (primates, dogs, dolphins, and even crows) such as are studied by primatologists such as Frans de Waal.
Kant, and others, have made a strong argument for logic and reason as being the best basis for morality. I disagree because many, even within the domains of logic and language, have pointed out the limits of logic and reason ... Russel's paradoxes, Wittgenstein's ladder, Gödel's Incompleteness Theorems ... not to mention artistic or religious mystics throughout history.
But ... if general A.I. is to emerge, and it may have already arrived, artificial intelligence MUST have a logic-based ethics built into its algorithms if we are to survive the alignment problem (aligning A.I. goals and values with human goals and values). How 'good' rule-driven psychopaths survive and thrive in a world surrounded by empathy-driven individuals is potentially a valuable tool for solving that alignment problem.
But hell, as my own personal anecdote shows, humans have not even solved the alignment problem between themselves. I am not optimistic.
I have one in my family. Maybe more. I've had to work with a few over the years and I've come away... damaged...a few times. They can destroy others professionally with no remorse, often for no apparent reason or personal gain.
Loosh brought to mind the Covid death count on cnn. The griefer description reminded me of the harkles. Sorry, low brow references compared to your writing.
I like the Alaskan Eskimo term: Kunlangeta. It literally means "one who knows what to do and doesn't do it". They have an interesting way of dealing with such ones too.
Amazing! I watch Tim Pool on YouTube and there is a “griefer” named Jeff who comments hundreds of times on one video. You would think there are 30 people using one account. This describes his tactics to a tee.
8% or so of people are on the "sociopathic" spectrum, and inordinate percentages of them find their way into positions of influence & power. I can understand this as an outcome of nature's design, Darwinian cycles of succession. However, might humanity be flirting with the edges of an era where we can/should identify & isolate those on this spectrum? Do not they represent the most significant barrier to evolving to higher states of our potential ? Can AI help expose and isolate those without the process becoming another "witch hunt?"
yes, maybe just a bunch of corporate & state sponsored AI's vying for dominance. However, if AI is legit self-learning, then it should recognize an attack vector on "greater good" outcomes? That is my hope, a longer horizon catch-22 for sociopath curation. we'll see...

This is his channel. He puts out daily updates on solar and planetary weather. There are high-level video series on a series of topics as well.

He also written a book. I haven't purchased it yet.

What's really sad as when you find one of this type in your extended family.
It was very interesting to hear your thoughts on the Bible. I would like to hear more.
I have one in my family. Maybe more. I've had to work with a few over the years and I've come away... damaged...a few times. They can destroy others professionally with no remorse, often for no apparent reason or personal gain.
This is a brilliantly insightful article. Thank you Ethical Skeptic.

Yes, I call this the 'Crazy-8' Percent:

Not when the sociopaths program AI.

Sounds like a (successful) sociopath?
PS...and thank you for the lesson in "griefers" and Loosh....
Very helpful in my own interpretation of others I meet where my red flags start going up.
