Just saw this and it rings true.

But then they vote for Democrats, the very people who are causing what they hate.....

This is just pathetic. Spoiled petulant self-indulgent babies. So wrapped up in themselves, in Me, Me Me that by the time really hard times hit them, illness, old age it may finally dawn on them the life they wasted complaining about and hiding from was really worth fighting battles for.

As a 74 yr old man I find this distressing for my grandchildren but have heard these very comments. It is difficult to not try to impart the idea of work ethic

Tragic. To quote some favorite lyrics: “we paid the price but didn’t count the cost”

Maybe a handful of these are legitimate but most seem like convenient excuses to not grow up. So what is their plan? To live in the parents basement until they die then inherit the house free and clear at age 50?

One thing not mentioned is the lack of brothers and sisters enables this. I moved out at 19 because I wanted to party down and my parents wouldn't let me because of the bad influence on my younger siblings. (Who would have thought being a teenage pothead would ultimately lead to being more independent? Thankfully clean and sober at age 23 by the grace of God.) Another thing about having siblings is the house doesn't automatically go to one kid. Plus other siblings resent when one is sponging off of mom and dad. Having no siblings removes all that family pressure.

Ultimately this is on the parents though. Kids have to be taught to be independent, to stop making excuses, and to stop feeling sorry for themselves. They need to learn there are consequences for their action and that mommy or daddy won't always bail them out. Too many parents want to be their kids buddies, and have a seriously misguiding understanding of what it means to love your kids.

It's a struggle but I've told my teenage boys it's more important they learn these lessons than that they like me. I want them to like me, but it's not required. If it takes them hating me for them to become independent, functioning adults then I can live with that. God willing that won't be the case.

My thought while reading this was "what have we done?"

It's easy to say that this is all due to nefarious forces (not saying you are, but should be said). They have absolutely amplified these forces to gain profit and power. But the cultural evolution to this point is more complex than that. Cowardice and complacency among the *vast* majority of the population got us into this.

I do think that there is a collective "we" starting to figure out a cultural antidote. Decentralization. Strong family values. Principled thought and open inquiry. Hopefully this can spread and win out in a generation, but we are in for tumultuous times in the interim.

Its a very tough time to be sending young adult children out into the world. Reminds me of the biblical woman giving birth while the monster waits to devour it.

I thought about those who have grown up with their parents since the 2007-2008 Market crash many times, they were financially ruined, and like the senseless lockdowns & mandates of today which have sent an estimated 8 Million + Americans into poverty our leadership have failed us miserably but did they fail at what they were really after ? Judging by ES's list I'm beginning to think they have succeeded in quashing the "American Dream."

Our youth is our future and without them we have no future, which is a really fucking dark place I'd really not like to go to.

Are the oligarchs working to control the population outside of their grasp?

Also, I personally know a handful that made so much in crypto they have opted out. They will probably return like I had to, but when?

This is fantastic in the same way Dickens is wonderful capturing the cruelty and despair an economic caste system inflicts. Every item is so true, so sad and important to hear.

Tragically, the voices that railed against paving paradise for parking lots have joined the oligarchs to call for censorship of dissent. To see the problem and stand on the side of the executioners is unforgivable. Woke Woodstock sell outs now cheer the oppressors. Neil Young pulled the Spotify stunt after selling his music rights to Blackrock dirtbag and help pave the way to Hell.

It's heartbreaking to see the world of carnage left in the wake of unchecked greed and political corruption. Every beautiful natural resource, including human creativity is fodder for NASDAQ Mafia who count their billions as wins and leave archipelagos of trash and toxic waste as the socialized cost of doing business. I was that age in 2009, after the market crash I have felt this way ever since (although I could never live with my parents into my 20s). So much so I was homeless for 2 years while I failed to entrepreneur.
